Preview: HEAT @ Nets
By: Matt Pineda
After a night off, the HEAT are in Newark, NJ to take on the Nets. Coming off a 3OT thriller in Atlanta, where the HEAT won without Dwyane Wade or LeBron James, Miami hopes to extend their record to 8-1.
The Nets (2-6) played last night in Toronto and won. Deron Williams and Kris Humphries, who were previously hurt, both played. Tonight, Marshon Brooks is also expected to play, who is the top scoring rookie currently.
James and Wade are both still questionable for the game. Wade has been suffering a foot contusion since their first game against Charlotte, and James rolled his ankle in the blowout win against the Pacers. Even without the, Miami beat Atlanta in Atlanta. One would hope they could possibly do the same against the lowly Nets.
If James and Wade don’t play, Miami will again expect Battier, Jones, Chalmers, and Haslem to step up alongside Chris Bosh to give the HEAT a chance to win. James and Wade have been mentioned to rest because after this game, the HEAT have Sunday and Monday off before heading out west for three games.
Mike Miller and Eddy Curry are out tonight. James and Wade are both questionable.
If James and Wade are out, it’s very possible the Nets could beat them. But, if Miami is focused like they were against Atlanta, they could certainly win this game.
Miami – Mario Chalmers, Dwyane Wade, Shane Battier, Chris Bosh, Joel Anthony
New Jersey – Deron Williams, Marshon Brooks, Anthony Morrow, Kris Humphries, Memhet Okur.
The game starts at 7:30 in New Jersey. The game can be seen on SunSports.
