Our Writers

Pedro Heizer founded Crank Up The HEAT back in 2008 as a place to vent his frustrations with, at the time, a bad Miami Heat team. Since then, the little blog he used to write quick blurbs has grown to the website you know and love. Currently, he is the sports editor of The Boca Raton Tribune, a community newspaper located in Boca Raton. Pedro is also the beat writer for the Fort Lauderdale Strikers, a soccer team located in Fort Lauderdale. In the future, Pedro plans on working as a beat writer for an NBA team, or be a sportscaster at ESPN. Pedro already has some experience on the field, he was an intern with ESPN Radio 760 in West Palm Beach where he had the honor to work with greats such as Evan Cohen, Ken LaVicka, John Martin and others.

Steve Rawnsley got connected to Crank Up The HEAT by Matt Pineda, a good college friend. He currently lives in the northern suburbs of Indianapolis. He has had a passion for the NBA ever since he was young. Steve attended Ball State University for a short time to study sports administration, and was aspiring to get a job in the front office of an NBA team. Had he stayed at Ball State, he would have changed his major to sports journalism to eventually cover the NBA (he ended up graduating from Cincinnati Christian University). Some of his passions outside of basketball are fantasy sports, classic rock, and helping out youth within the church.

Brett met Pedro back when his site was still just a blog and under a different name.  Brett is a high school senior who will be leaving to attend a conservatory to study music and classical saxophone performance in the fall.  Despite his main interest being music, Brett
is an avid HEAT fan and watches games intently, always studying every play and sometimes (more often than not) coaching the team from his living room.  If you have any questions or comments feel free to email him at blerns3@gmail.com.
