Miller Time Returning to Miami

By: Matt Blue

Brokeback Miller will be returning to the Miami HEAT next season. All jokes aside, Miller announced he will be ready to go next season. He is looking forward to helping the HEAT defend their championship crown.

As you probably remember, Miller limped his way through much of last season. His back pain was so severe that he was barely able to even sit on the HEAT bench during games. Miller’s neurosurgeon, Dr. Barth Green has medically cleared him to play next season as long as Miller follows a regimen of rest and rehabilitation.

Miller emphatically declared “no retirement,” on Tuesday at a basketball camp in which he sponsors 600 children. A healthy Mike Miller should help the HEAT tremendously in many different aspects of the game, especially in the shooting department. Miller’s legendary performance in Game 5 remains in the minds of many HEAT fans as a historical performance.

HEAT fans will be welcoming him back with open arms and they are hoping he will be able to find the fountain of health and youth once again. After all, Mike Miller can only make the HEAT’s bench that much stronger with the additions of Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis.  With the depth Miami has at the wing, Miller will be able to make sure his body is fully healed before returning.

Miller also survived the HEAT’s amnesty provision again.  But with Mike to make over $6 million the following season and the luxury penalties being sharpened, Pat Riley’s decision to keep Miller after that will be much more difficult.  The HEAT are allowed to amnesty one player that was already on contract prior to the 2011 lockout.  And when next season rolls around, teams will be penalized much stricter for being over the cap and being repeat offenders.

With all that said, next off-season, we will again be wondering if Mike Miller will return to the HEAT.
